Art review by Luca Berghella (artist/sculptor/musician) about artist Nella Lush(Translated by the original Italian version)  With certainty out of normality and consuetude the artistic style of Nella Lush, finds with power its place amongst the group of the Neo-Impressionistic artists.A very singular approach to the art where the painting, in its essence, becomes an access door to a new dimension: The spiritual One!As if the paintings of Nella Lush have a soul, a body and even an outer skin that makes them alive and breathing to life.It is a layer technique that the artist gives us, a system that allows her to play, to dialogue with the colors, creating chromatic shadows that capture the observer and transport him/her into the dimension that the artist gives us with a veiled shyness. The fight between the good and the evil is surely one of the themes more recurrent of the artist, a duel where the good is always triumphant in a sequence of reds and yellows that caress our hearts and let our senses vibrate. Of relevant importance is also the spiritual journey and the redemption of man that Lush invites us to read in her works in a play of shadows and dark marked lines that dissipate slowly giving place to a benevolent presence, where Love and Goodness takes a life in a pure atmosphere, that elevates and purifies in front to the divine angelic, offered by the artist in a selection of whites and yellows in a multitude of tonalities. In the vast panoramic of the international modern art, the artist also captures the theme of nature, re-interpreted in her own way with an allegoric key, concentrating on her own evocative capacity of trees and floral that thanks to her method of layering of colors, become indisputable protagonists of her works, giving us a sense of peace and olfactory perception almost as if you could smell the aroma.Of Italian origins, even tough living in the United States of America for many years, Nella Lush has never lost sight of her origins, that being well eradicated in her, allow her to give us colors and atmospheres that have accompanied her through her life.  December 19, 2006

Artist Nella Lush tells a visual tale of emotion, of mood in its purest manifestation, immersing the viewer into a dimension where time and the material world no longer exist. She creates atmosphere by deconstructing shape and form; the vibrant space of the large, abstract paintings telling a different story to each viewer. Her fluid brushwork, loose, unstructured contours and luminous color palette of blues and greens or earthy yellows and oranges sparkle with the Mediterranean influences of her native Italy, bringing to mind influences of the Provence landscapes of Paul Cezanne. Nella’s style is determined by her belief that there is no right or wrong in art; the important thing is to let the feelings flow. She lets the mood of the moment dictate the first color of paint applied to the virgin canvas and calls her art expressionistic because it expresses her life.

Nella speaks a gestural language with accents of vibrant color that ignite and enhance her almost abstract compositions. She walks a fine line between representation and abstraction, revealing an "anima" that comes through her and is transferred to the canvas via paint, with a great sensitivety to Nature and its forms and hidden secrets.

There's a built-in age factor; an ancient quality in the works of Nella Lush, maybe even a timelessness, that is expressed by the scumbled colors, the classic subject matter and the texture and patina of the surface. The carefully controlled modeling and blending, which is never over-done, builds the history of the painting and gives it a subdued depth and suffused atmosphere that is sensually appealing. (dg)
